Wei Ting Lin's Award-Winning Design Merges Nature with Architecture

The Xiu Shan Reception Center, located adjacent to a park, is designed to provide a seamless integration of the interior space with the surrounding green environment. The structure's transparent metal frame and glass offer unobstructed views of the park, creating a sense of unity between the indoor and outdoor spaces. This innovative design approach was inspired by the desire to create a distinct and comfortable space that leverages the advantages of its park-side location.

Wei Ting Lin and his design team have utilized commonly used materials like metal sheets and frames to create a simple yet beautiful architectural appearance. The truss-shaped structure, combined with the full glass window facing the park, creates a warm and homey atmosphere. This design approach is a departure from the common luxury sales design, emphasizing the concept of "Living in the Park".

The interior of the reception center features extensive use of wood for flooring, VIP room ceilings, the main reception cabinet, and the rear facade. The design team has also incorporated green plants in the interior space to enhance the quality of the space and extend the green living concept. A unique feature is the living hanging greenery decoration above the main reception, made using a metal bracket, which adds a vertical greening element to the space.

One of the technical specifications of the design is the use of a light and simplified metal truss with a metal sheet roof. This design approach hides utility pipes and metal brackets, giving the space an industrial-like design perception. The design team also faced challenges in dealing with the open and windy site location. They addressed this by planning the building to face the north and using floor-to-ceiling windows and doors to make the space more transparent and mitigate high sun exposure.

The Xiu Shan Reception Center is a testament to Wei Ting Lin's innovative design approach. It showcases how architecture can be harmoniously integrated with nature to create a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
